Artwork

(First Foot Forward, M. Siebert, 2009)

The artwork is a visual manifesto of Martin's winemaking ideals.

Keep it simple. Strip it back to what is important.

Like stripping a painter's palette back to the three primary colours, a wine of place can be stripped back to three primary elements, being the sunlight (yellow), rainfall (blue) and the earth the vines are grown in (red).

The lines waver slightly to symbolise the organic nature of winemaking but also record the fluctuations of the three elements with time. Each new vintage having unique conditions, giving rise to a unique wine as a record of these conditions. Wines that reflect their site and vintage.
